minute:72 is a collaboration between photographer, Eric Hameister, and art director, Dave Gath. It was conceived one day while going over shoot notes for an upcoming photo shoot. As we worked on the preparation for the shoot, we talked about how we both thrived on working under pressure, creating with whatever we had available to us and delivering for a deadline. The rush, the energy and the satisfaction. So we set some ground rules providing the constraints within which we had to create and hoped for the best. This blog is a journal of our adventure. 72 minutes at a time.
You really take 72 min per shooting?
Yes. 72 minutes exactly. I use the timer on my iPhone and we shoot up until the last second.
Even when you know the next minute the perfect wave will crash against the beams?
That’s the one thing that defines this project : the rules. If we bent the rules, we wouldn’t be forced to rely on our experience and what we know and how to deal with unexpected situations. The challenge is part of the excitement for us.
